| JENA/Germany, 12.03.2012. Dentists and dental specialists from all over the world were able to further advance their skills at the International Carl Zeiss Symposium in Kitzbühel, Austria last weekend. In specialist lectures on various key subjects in the field of microdentistry they learned how they can use the latest developments in their everyday work. In hands-on workshops the participants themselves applied what they had learned using the microscope. The symposium is one of the highlights of Carl Zeiss Dental Academy international training program. The goal of this program of Carl Zeiss Meditec is to train users in special subject areas of microdentistry. "We would like to support our customers in the use of our products and contribute to their success in everyday practice," says Dr. Ludwin Monz, President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG. "This is why we offer training precisely tailored to the needs of their everyday work." Dental symposium with practice-related lectures and workshops The more than 60 participants of the two-day Dental Symposium in Kitzbühel came not only from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but also from Denmark, the UK and the USA. They discussed subjects related to microsurgery, endodontics and restorative dentistry with internationally recognized speakers. One of the most renowned speakers was Prof. Dr. Didier Dietschi from the field of aesthetic dentistry, who has more than 25 years' experience in practice and teaching. He explained, for example, what new treatment possibilities and improved treatment protocols are enabled by magnifying devices in ceramic restoration. During the hands-on courses the participants worked on the microscope themselves, practiced on animal specimens and tested the latest in filling techniques. Hands-on courses and trainings for dentists and dental specialists The program of the Carl Zeiss Dental Academy includes team trainings and hands-on courses, some of which also feature live surgeries. The courses are held by experienced microscope users in a professional environment such as dentists' offices or universities, thus further sharpening their focus on the practical needs of everyday dentistry. The trainings are designed in line with the guidelines and recommendations of the German Dentists' Association (BZÄK) for dental training. The course offering, which is currently focused on Germany, will be expanded to include the whole of Europe by next year. The symposium in Kitzbühel was the first step toward this internationalization. ![]() One of the most renowned speakers at the International Carl Zeiss Symposium in Kitzbühel, Austria was Prof. Dr. Didier Dietschi from the field of aesthetic dentistry.
