ZEISS FOR EYE DOCTORS

ZEISS Sun Rx portfolio

Sun protection lenses for every lifestyle.

It’s a fact: most people who wear glasses or contacts don’t have prescription sunglasses. For example, the U.S. is the largest prescription sunglass market1, but only 33% of people who need vision correction own prescription sunglasses—and 25% wear non-prescription shades.2

This is a unique opportunity to protect your customers’ eyes. Bridge the gap and grow your business with ZEISS Sun Rx.

Engineered to protect—with stunning effect.

Advanced eye protection meets exceptional visual clarity—with design options for every style and frame.

More contrast, less glare.

With a polarization efficiency of up to 99%3, ZEISS Polarized lenses ensure clear, comfortable vision in bright outdoor conditions.

Special filters block glare from shiny surfaces such as roads, water, and ice—so you can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors with enhanced contrast and colors.

Effortless vision in challenging light.

ZEISS Polarized sunglass lenses feature a special filter which helps protect people’s eyes from extreme glare and enhance contrast—for clear, sharp vision.

The filter in our polarizing sunglass lenses is made by stretching a thin sheet of iodine-doped polyvinyl alcohol. This process lines up chains of molecules specifically to keep some of the light from passing through the lens. Horizontal light waves that cause glare are blocked, while vertical light waves get through.

Skylet® tints for outdoor fun, driving, and sports.

ZEISS Skylet Fun and Road tints perform best in medium light intensity—making them great for outdoor activities and driving. If your patients need more glare reduction and enhanced contrast in polarized lenses, you should recommend ZEISS Skylet Sport. It has a special dark brown tint and 90% light absorption.

Reduce the glare, boost the glam: Mirror and Flash sunglass lens coatings.

Mirrors for fashion and more.

Added to solid, gradient, or polarized sunglass lenses, ZEISS DuraVision Mirror UV coatings create an eye-catching look in line with the latest mirror styles. These reflective color coatings reduce glare for more comfortable vision in bright light.

Solutions like ZEISS Skylet lenses come in special colors and extra-dark tints for maximum light absorption—plus options designed for driving and sports.

Performance tints for performance sports.

Developed to keep up with athletes, the Performance line of ZEISS prescription sunglass lenses protects people’s eyes and helps them see clearly—whatever the activity. We can even make them extra-thin for high-wrap sports eyewear.

ZEISS Skylet lenses are a great choice for extreme light conditions. Skylet® Sport lenses offer up to 90% light absorption, ideal for strong glare on glaciers. Skylet® Fun lenses provide up to 70% light absorption with an orange-brown tint—ideal for activities like skiing, water sports, and driving in poor weather.

Extra-thin lenses for extra comfort.

Creating a wraparound lens is uniquely challenging. It should effectively correct vision while being as thin as possible—all the way to the edges. With ZEISS Cosmetic Edge® technology, we can produce flat ZEISS Sport lenses that deliver clear vision, even in high-wrap frames. This innovation reduces the edge thickness of the lens by up to 30% for clarity and comfort.7

Exact light absorption level is a combination of material, tint, and coating selections. For AdaptiveSun this also includes UV exposure and temperature.

  • 5

As long as the dyes used to create ZEISS tints can replicate the colors and levels of darkness.

  • 6

Photochromic performance depends on temperature, UV exposure, and color. ZEISS AdaptiveSun lenses will become much darker in cold, sunny environments, and may limit visibility in extremely cold weather. As such, they are not suitable for operating open-air vehicles in cold conditions such as convertibles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, or snowmobiles, or engaging in activities such as skiing. ZEISS AdaptiveSun Blue is not suitable for driving in any conditions as it does not satisfy the Qred signal test.
